Pictures USA 2005

Again, we had a great time fishing in the Rockies this Summer. We explored many new areas and spots. Here are some pictures -enjoy them!

Above: Alpine Lake and Baker Lake. Two out of more than 200 mountain lakes in the Sawtooth Mountain Range, in central Idaho.

Below: On the Snake River, near Hagerman. Nice!

Below: Kelly, working a nice Big Lost River native rainbow above Mackey reservoir.   One of my favorite waters!

Little Redfish Lake. Every year more and more Sockey Salmon return to their spawning grounds after a 900 mile long jurney and can be seen here.
The famous Salmon River, around Challis, this is the spot to be in April, when the Steelhead arrive.

During a trip up Highway 1, Kelly and I took the chance and  went fishing for summer steelhead on the famous Rogue River in Oregon. The unique thing about it is, that the Steelhead still feed, and thus, show normal trout behavior. The typical method is nymphing with a 6 or 7 weight, just as one would do for trout. Result:  Big Fun!!!  On this point I also want to mention that we hired Josh White as our guide at the Rogue River Fly Shop in Grants Pass and I want to say how great and unforgettable he made that day for us, it was just great! We'll be back!

Taking a brake from flyfishing I took my friend Martin from Austria to the Snake River to show him what else Idaho has to offer for a sportsman.
